The Fairytale Pattern

The Fairytale Pattern in the Story:

The Protagonist is an Unhappy Situation:
  • The miller's father is poor and boasted about her in front of the king.
  • The king locked her up threatening her to spin straw into gold if not killing her.if she does not do it in one night.
  • The protagonist does not know how to do that.
The Situation Worsens:
  • The king becomes greedier and asked for more and more.
  • The little man who helped her asked for more too.
Protagonist receives unexpected help, usually of a magical nature:
  • Her messenger came across the little where he lived by chance and heard him
chanting: 'To-day I bake, to-morrow brew,
the next I'll have the young queen's child.
Ha, glad am I that no one knew
that Rumpelstiltskin I am styled.'"

Protagonist is rescued from initial unhappy situation:
  • She now knew the little man's name and was save from her child from being taken away and became the queen.
